STEP 1
Find a cardboard box and cut a flat rectangle 30 x 15 cm in size.
STEP 2
Wet the top of the piece of cardboard thoroughly and peel the top layer off very carefully.
You may need to sponge this further as you go to wet and loosen the glue. This will leave the grooves of the cardboard exposed. Leave this to dry.
STEP 3
Set the chair up in a clear space and pop the cardboard on the seat.
You need the grooves of the cardboard to be facing out towards the front. So, where the straight lines run down the cardboard, they point forward in the same direction as you.
Now you need to sit directly on the chair in a relaxed position. This is going to make an indent, and you are going to want to raise your feet to really ensure that you have made a dent in the cardboard without crushing it too much. This is called making a bone impression.
STEP 4
Take a pen and circle the indentation.
This will leave an impression where your sit bones are. You can find the middle by make a cross in the circle.
STEP 5
Measure from one point to the other.
Measure from one point to the other with your measuring tape in millimeters. Add 20-25mm to determine your saddle size. A saddle's width is measured from edge to edge across the top – widest part of the saddle.
